Birmingham New Street is a major railway station located in the centre of the city of Birmingham, England.

New Street is Birmingham's main railway station, and is a major hub of the British railway system. Due to its central location, railway lines from all over Great Britain run into it including lines to London, Manchester, Scotland, Wales, Bristol, Penzance, Nottingham, Leicester, Shrewsbury and Newcastle.

The station is also a terminus for many local services from throughout the West Midlands conurbation. Including the local Cross City railway line, servicing Lichfield, Redditch and stations in between. Direct trains run to more stations from New Street than from any other station on the British railway network. 31 million people pass through New Street station every year. It is one of 17 British railway stations managed by Network Rail.

In the early days of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, the Liverpool terminus was located at Crown Street, in Edge Hill, officially opened in 1830. Construction of a purpose-built station began in October 1833, the land being purchased from Liverpool Council for £9000. A tunnel was constructed between Edge Hill and the new station (starting in 1832, prior to station construction), and the station was opened to the public in August of 1836, although construction was not completed until the following year. Because of the steep incline between Lime Street and Edge Hill, trains were stopped at Edge Hill, their locomotives removed, and the passenger carriages taken down by gravity, descent controlled by brakemen. The return journey was achieved by using a stationary engine to haul the carriages up with rope.

Within six years, the rapid growth of the railways meant that the original station needed to be extended, and a plan was made to erect an iron roof similar to that found at Euston station in London, ridge roofs supported by iron columns; however, Richard Turner and William Fairburn submitted a design for a single curved roof, which won the approval of the station committee. The work cost £15,000, and was completed in 1849. The station was one of the first to send mail by train. A second roof was added in the 1880s. The North Western Hotel was built in front of the station - this still stands, having been converted to accommodation for students of Liverpool John Moores University.

Lime Street was part of the first stage of electrification of the West Coast Main Line in 1959. In 1966, the station saw the launch of the first InterCity service.

The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is a racing circuit near the small Italian town of Imola, 40 Km east of Bologna and 80 Km east of the Ferrari factory in Maranello.

The circuit is named after late Ferrari's founder Enzo and his son Dino who had died in the 1950s. Before Enzo Ferrari's death in 1988, it was called 'Autodromo Dino Ferrari'.

It is the venue for the Formula One San Marino Grand Prix (usually, two Grands Prix are held in Italy every year, so the race held at Imola is named after the nearby state) and it also hosted the 1980 edition of the Italian Grand Prix, which usually takes place in Monza. When Formula One visits Imola, it is seen as the 'home circuit' of Ferrari and masses of tifosi (Ferrari supporters) come out to support the local team.

Imola, as it is colloquially known, is one of the minority of non-oval circuits which go in an anti-clockwise direction. With Istanbul Racing Circuit a third counter-clockwise track was added in 2005 to the well-known Autódromo José Carlos Pace at Interlagos.

Villa Park, in Birmingham, England; is the stadium at which Aston Villa Football Club play their home games.

The Aston Villa legend, Billy Walker summed up Villa Park when he said "About Villa Park itself hung an aura that seems almost to be visible. Most certainly it is there to be felt and I know of no other ground that has the same effect on one. Almost it seems to be peopled by ghosts - amiable ghosts whose job it is to breathe the great Villa spirit into generation after generation of ambitious youngsters who pass through the great gates to achieve a life's ambition; to wear the famous claret and blue of the great club."

Opened in 1897, the year Aston Villa won the League and FA Cup 'Double', it was officially called the Aston Lower Grounds, on the site of a Victorian amusement park in the former grounds of a Jacobean stately home, Aston Hall. Once the site of a fishpond and kitchen garden belonging to Sir Thomas Holte, the owner of Aston Hall. This is where the name of the legendary Holte End came from. The pitch was initially surrounded by a 24 foot wide concrete cycle track and a cinder running track. Many athletics and cycle events were staged here prior to the First World War. The running track was removed in 1922 when work started on the Trinity Road Stand and the ground was squared off. The Trinity Road Stand was demolished in 2001 and replaced by a larger modern stand. It is commonly regarded as one of the best football grounds in England.

West Bromwich Albion Football Club is an English football club formed by workers from Salter's Spring Works in West Bromwich, West Midlands in 1878. It currently plays in the FA Premier League.

This famous football club was one of the original founder members of the Football League. Although not as fashionable as some other English football teams, over the years 'The Albion' has made a great contribution to football. It was the first English team to play in Russia and then a couple of decades later the first English team to play in China. During the Chinese tour, midfielder John Trewick was asked what he thought of the Great Wall, his famous reply was "Once you've seen one wall, you've seen them all".

Their original nickname,'The Throstles' originated because they had a thrush on their shirt badges. The more colloquial nickname and the more popular one is 'The Baggies'. There are several theories for how this name may have originated, a popular one being that the team wore unfashionably long shorts at one stage.

HMS Invincible (R05) is a light aircraft carrier, the lead ship of three in her class.

She was built at Barrow-in-Furness by Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering. She was laid down in 1973, and launched on 3 May 1977. The ship commissioned on July 11, 1980, and joined the older carriers Hermes and Bulwark in service. Invincible was intended for sale to the Royal Australian Navy as a replacement for HMAS Melbourne (when she would likely have been renamed HMAS Australia). However, Invincible's central role in the Falklands War led to the sale being cancelled.

After 25 years of service she sailed into Portsmouth Naval Base for the last time on 1 August 2005 [1]. HMS Illustrious succeeded Invincible as the service's flagship.

The carrier's air group comprised nine Harriers and twelve helicopters (usually all Sea Kings, either ASW or AEW variants). The carriers also provide an operational headquarters for the RN task force. The runway is 170 m long and includes the characteristic "ski jump" (initially 7° it was later increased to 12°).

For defence the carrier has a number of systems. She originally had two 20 mm Raytheon Phalanx close in weapon systems, but these were upgraded to three Thales 30mm Goalkeeper CIWS; they also have two Oerlikon 20 mm cannons. Countermeasures are provided by a Thales jamming sytem and ECM system, Seagnat launchers provide for chaff or flare decoys. Initially the carriers were also armed with a Sea Dart SAM missile system, but these were removed in order to increase the flight deck size and to allow magazine storage for Royal Air Force Harrier GR7s.
