The USS Arizona Memorial, located at Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i, is a national memorial administered by the U.S. National Park Service. The memorial marks the resting place of 1,102 sailors killed on the USS Arizona during the Attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 by Japanese imperial forces and also the events of this day. The memorial spans the sunken hull of the battleship without touching it. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the action that forced United States involvement in World War II.

Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station is a civilian nuclear power plant located on an artificial island (Three Mile Island) in the Susquehanna River near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. It was originally built with two pressurized water reactors (TMI-1 and TMI-2), but after TMI-2 suffered a partial meltdown in 1979, its core was removed from the site. The station is currently owned by Exelon Corporation and is operated by AmerGen Energy.

Manicouagan Reservoir (also Lake Manicouagan) is a annular lake in northern Quebec, Canada, the remnant of an impact crater made approximately 212 million years ago, towards the end of the Triassic period. Recent research has shown that the impact melt within the crater has an age of 214±1 Ma. As this is 12±2 Ma before the end of the Triassic, it implies that it was not the cause of the Triassic-Jurassic extinction event.

The crater was created by the impact of a 5 km diameter asteroid which excavated a crater originally about 100 km wide although sediments and erosion have since reduced its diameter to about 72 km.

The Silesian Medical Academy - belongs to the biggest universities of that type in Poland. Above 4000 students are educatec there. It was founded in 1948. Zabrze-Rokitnica, Bytom and Katowice were the seat of the academy and its clinic. In 1971 a construction of a modern clinic-didactic center of the academy was begun in Katowice-Ligota.

At present the Medical Department and Nursing Department are situated in Katowice-Ligota (the dean's office phone ), the Dental Department in Zabrze-Rokitnica, and the Pharmacy Department in Sosnowiec.

The rector's Office of the academy is situated at ul. Poniatowskiego 15, the telephone exchange. The students' hotels of the Silesian Medical Academy are situated at ul. Medykow 10 in Katowice-Ligota.
